EVA Shoe Pulveriser EVA Sole Mill Grinder Machine Description:

The PNMF series EVA shoe sole pulveriser is the disc-type grinding machine used in footwear manufacturing for processing injection-moulded and compression-moulded EVA shoe sole material into reusable powder. This page covers the PNMF disc grinder configuration — which requires pre-granulated input (≤3 mm) — as distinct from the WRFP-200 grinding wheel machines that accept whole foam offcuts directly without pre-crushing.

EVA shoe sole material vs EVA foam. Injection-moulded and compression-moulded shoe soles are denser and harder than the foam offcuts processed on the WRFP-200. Typical VA content for midsole EVA is 14–20%; outsole EVA ranges from 18–28% VA. Higher VA content grades are more heat-sensitive and more elastic, requiring lower disc gap and reduced feed rate to prevent sticking at the disc surface. This is the primary operational variable when switching between different shoe sole grades on the same PNMF unit.

Pre-granulation is required. Moulded shoe sole offcuts (sprues, trimmings, and rejects) must be reduced to ≤3 mm granules by a crusher or granulator before entering the PNMF grinding chamber. The disc mechanism cannot accept large moulded pieces directly. For EVA foam offcuts that do not require pre-granulation, see the WRFP-200 EVA foam recycling machine.

Output powder and re-use. EVA shoe sole powder at 20–40 mesh (coarse) is reintroduced into new shoe sole compound at 10–25% addition ratio. Finer powder at 40–80 mesh is suitable for use in foam board, yoga mat compound, or other foam products where visual surface quality requirements are less strict. The PNMF disc gap is adjusted to the target mesh without stopping the machine.

For full PNMF machine specification, component details, and model sizing, see the PNMF PVC Film Pulverizer page which covers the complete disc platform.

EVA Shoe Pulveriser EVA Sole Mill Grinder Machine Technical Features:

  • Full dual cooling required for EVA shoe sole — EVA’s softening point (60–80°C depending on VA content) is within the range of disc friction heat during normal operation; both water-cooled fixed disc cavity and atomised rotating disc spray must run simultaneously to maintain stable disc temperature and prevent material sticking.
  • Pre-granulation to ≤3 mm required — moulded EVA shoe sole pieces cannot feed directly; upstream crusher or granulator is required. For EVA foam offcuts that can feed directly without pre-crushing, see the WRFP-200 configuration.
  • Disc gap adjustable for VA content variation — higher VA content EVA (>20%) requires tighter gap setting and reduced feed rate compared to lower VA content (14–18%); feeler gauge adjustment during operation, no machine stoppage required.
  • 20–80 mesh output range for shoe sole applications — 20–40 mesh for compound reintroduction; 40–80 mesh for foam board or broader filler applications. Closed-loop vibrating screen maintains output fineness automatically.
  • Segment blades for PNMF-600/800 — resharpenable 4–5 times; recommended for continuous shoe sole scrap recycling where minimising per-tonne blade cost is a priority.
  • SKF bearings, Siemens motor, CE certified — standard specification; selected for continuous-duty reliability in footwear manufacturing environments running extended production shifts.

EVA Shoe Pulveriser EVA Sole Mill Grinder Machine Components:

Vibratory Feeding Pulverizer Disc
Vibratory Feeding
Feeds pre-granulated EVA shoe sole material (≤3 mm) at a controlled rate; magnetic element removes any metal fragments from granulator blade wear before they reach the disc.
Pulverizer Disc
Fixed disc double-layer water-cooled cavity + rotating disc atomised spray cooling; both essential for EVA shoe sole at 60–80°C softening range. Disc diameter 300–800 mm across five PNMF models.
Whole Body Pulverizer Disc Segment Pulverizer Blade
Whole Body Pulverizer Blade
Standard for PNMF-300 to PNMF-500; tooth geometry customisable to match EVA VA content and target mesh for shoe sole applications.
Segment Pulverizer Blade
For PNMF-600/800; resharpenable 4–5 times — recommended for continuous shoe sole scrap recycling operations where blade replacement frequency affects operating cost.
Temperature Control Vibrating Screen
Temperature Control
Thermostat-controlled solenoid valve pauses material feed if disc temperature approaches EVA’s softening threshold, preventing sticking without operator intervention.
Vibrating Screen
Real-time classification; for shoe sole compound reintroduction (20–40 mesh), automatic oversize return ensures consistent output mesh across variable-quality granule input.
Bags Type Dust Catcher Intelligent Control
Bags Type Dust Catcher
Standard option; pulse dust collector recommended for enclosed workshop environments or facilities processing higher-VA-content EVA grades which generate stickier fine particles.
Intelligent Control
PLC panel with EVA grade-specific presets (feed rate, disc gap target, cooling threshold); reduces setup time when switching between midsole and outsole EVA grades on the same machine.

EVA Shoe Pulveriser EVA Sole Mill Grinder Machine Application Areas:

In-line shoe sole scrap recycling. The primary application. Injection moulding and compression moulding lines for EVA shoe soles generate consistent volumes of sprue, runner, and trimming offcuts. These are crushed to ≤3 mm granules and fed to the PNMF continuously. Output powder is returned to the compound mix at 10–25% in the same shift, reducing virgin EVA consumption and scrap disposal costs.

Off-spec sole and reject processing. Colour-off, dimensional rejects, and surface-defect soles are granulated and pulverised for compound reintroduction. Rejected soles from a single product line can typically be recycled into the same compound formulation without colour-matching issues, as the powder is dispersed throughout the new compound.

Multi-grade EVA sole scrap (separate runs). Footwear factories producing multiple sole grades (different VA content, colour, or density) process each grade in separate pulverising runs to maintain powder batch consistency. The PNLP-200 or separate collection bins per grade are standard practice for multi-grade lines. PLC material presets on the PNMF reduce changeover time between grades.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between using the PNMF disc grinder and the WRFP-200 for EVA shoe sole recycling?

The PNMF disc grinder requires pre-granulated input (≤3 mm) — moulded shoe sole pieces must be reduced by a crusher before entering the PNMF grinding chamber. The output is 20–80 mesh powder suitable for compound reintroduction. The WRFP-200 grinding wheel machine accepts whole EVA foam offcuts directly without pre-crushing, producing 80–120 mesh powder at 60°C. The two machines serve different material forms: the PNMF is the standard choice when an upstream granulator is already in the production line and the target is compound-grade powder (20–40 mesh); the WRFP-200 is preferred when processing foam offcuts without a granulator step and when the finer 80–120 mesh output is acceptable.

What EVA shoe sole powder mesh size is used for compound reintroduction?

For reintroduction into EVA midsole or outsole compound, 20–40 mesh (400–850 µm) is the standard specification used by most footwear manufacturers. At this fineness, the recycled EVA powder disperses evenly in the compound mixer without visible particle boundaries in the finished moulded sole. Finer powder (40–80 mesh) is suitable for applications where a smoother surface finish is required but adds processing time. Coarser powder (below 20 mesh) may cause surface texture variation in the moulded sole and is generally not accepted for high-quality footwear applications.

Can EVA shoe sole powder from different VA content grades be mixed?

Mixing powder batches from significantly different VA content grades (e.g. 14% VA midsole EVA mixed with 28% VA soft outsole EVA) produces a blended powder with intermediate properties that may not match the performance specifications of either original compound. For factories processing multiple sole grades, the standard practice is to collect and pulverise each grade separately, and either reintroduce each batch into its corresponding compound or designate mixed batches for lower-specification applications (foam board, yoga mat compound) where the exact VA content is less critical.
