The blade is generally installed in a spiral manner, tightly fixed on the shaft by rotation, and the spacer is designed to be separated in the middle to ensure the stability of the blade during rotation, reducing collisions and friction. The thickness of the blade is usually selected between 0.2 and 0.3 millimeters to ensure sufficient cutting force and avoid the blade being too thin and vulnerable. Meanwhile, the number of teeth on the blade should also be reasonably determined based on specific shredding requirements and cardboard types. Blade Material Selection
Blade material is selected based on the specific material being shredded:
Plastic recycling: 42CrMo, W5SiCr, SKD-11 — high wear resistance for films, bottles, and rigid plastics.
Metal shredding: 6CrW2Si, Cr12MoV, LD, H13 — H13 hot-work tool steel performs reliably at elevated temperatures with minimal deformation, making it ideal for processing light scrap and metal waste.
Wood and cardboard: 5WsiCr, 6CrW2Si, SKH, SKD-11, D2 — balanced hardness and toughness to handle fiberous and abrasive materials without chipping.
All blades are vacuum heat treated to HRC 55–57.
Commonly used twin-shaft shredder blades. The inner hole is generally an inner hexagon, and the outer circumference commonly has three claws, six claws, eight claws, and twelve claws. The number of jaws, the clearance and the distance from the blade to the spacer determine the size of the shredded material. Generally, the shredder blades are available in diameters from 200mm to 500mm and thicknesses from 20mm to 55mm. They can also be customized according to customer needs.
