What is polycarbonate(PC)?
Polycarbonate is a common material in everyday life. Due to its colorless and transparent and excellent impact resistance, the common daily applications are CD/VCD, bottled water bottles, baby bottles, resin lenses, bulletproof glass, lampshade, animal cages, luggage, the helmet mask of the astronauts on the moon; Smartphone casing and so on.
PC chemical properties:
Polycarbonate, acid resistance, oil resistance, UV resistance, strong alkali resistance.
PC physical properties:
Polycarbonate is colorless and transparent, heat resistant, impact-resistant, flame retardant, and has good mechanical properties in common use temperature. Compared with the similar performance of polymethyl methacrylate, polycarbonate has good impact resistance, high refractive index and good processing performance. It does not need additives to have UL94 V-2 flame retardant performance. However, THE price of PMMA is relatively low and large devices can be produced by bulk polymerization. At present, with the expansion of the polycarbonate production scale, the price difference between polycarbonate and polymethyl methacrylate is narrowing day by day.
When polycarbonate burns, it will emit pyrolytic gas, and the plastic will burn and bubble, but it will not ignite. When it leaves the ignition source, it will be extinguished and give out a thin smell of phenol. The flame is yellow and light black, and begins to soften at 140℃ and melts at 220℃, which can absorb infrared spectrum.
Polycarbonate has poor wear resistance. Some polycarbonate devices used in wear-prone applications require special surface treatment.

1. Mechanical properties: high strength and elastic coefficient, high impact strength, good fatigue resistance, good dimensional stability, little creep (little change under high-temperature conditions), high transparency and free dyeing;

3. Solvent resistance: no stress cracking;
4. Water stability: it is easy to decompose when meeting water at high temperature (caution should be used in high temperature and high humidity environment);
5. Insulation performance: excellent (humidity, high temperature can also maintain stable electrical performance, is the manufacture of electronic, electrical parts of the ideal material);
6. Dielectric coefficient: 3.0-3.2;
7. Arc resistance: 120S;
8. Molding processability: injection molding or extrusion of ordinary equipment.
